Welcome to the ATU Music Production Contest

The ATU Library and Media Production Labs are hosting a music production contest.  All types of music are welcome, but you must be a currently enrolled ATU student and it must be original.  Cash prizes and t-shirts!

Contest Rules 

ELIGIBILITY 

  • Arkansas Tech students currently enrolled in the Fall semester 2024. 

  • If the music is co-produced, all persons must be currently enrolled students. 

TYPES OF MUSIC PRODUCTIONS 

All genres and styles are welcome. 

  • Rap/Hip Hop 

  • Classical 

  • Country 

  • Folk 

  • EDM 

  • Ambient 

  • Synthwave 

  • Experimental Electronica 

  • Noise Music 

  • And much more... 

Production Guidelines 

Original Music 

  • Composed and produced by the contestant.

  • No remixes.

  • No arrangements of works by other composers.

  • No lyrics containing profanities or obscenities. 

Demonstrate and Submit Your Music 

  • Schedule a meeting with the ATU Media Librarian (llybarger@atu.edu) to demonstrate your music production.  Phone number:  479-964-0584

  • Open the project on the ATU Media Lab computers or bring in your laptop with the production and answer some questions about it. 

  • Provide a mixdown audio file (.wav or .aiff, but not .mp3) and YT thumbnail (optional) to the ATU Media Librarian as the official entry. 

  • Your mixdown file will be added to the contest YouTube playlist .

  • Submissions are due by MONDAY, OCT.  28, 9PM.  

  • Finalists announced and reaction video released FRIDAY, NOV. 8 on ATU Media Lab YouTube channel and social media platforms.

Philippe Y. Van Houtte is the Systems Librarian at the
Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center.

He is a critical music listener and "O.G." of the Belgian
rock music scene, and has a special interest
 in progressive house 
music.

Philippe also teaches the French language and culture
at ATU and takes students on study abroad tours
during the summer months.

Dr. Kae Hashimoto Reed is a performing classical
and world musician who has has performed
extensively as a soloist and in ensembles in numerous
venues throughout the planet.

Kae also teaches the Japanese language and culture
at Arkansas Tech, as well as many music courses.

musician, music producer, videographer, and digital
media content creator.  He owns the digital
marketing company www.redmassive.com based
in Russellville, Arkansas.
