The
SPIE Digital Library provides access to approximately 350 proceedings comprising 16,000+ papers and presentation recordings each year on photonics-driven topics such as biomedicine, astronomy, defense and security, and renewable energy.
This is your opportunity to hear and view professional conference presentations that include the speaker's narration with video of the slides and animations. Most include interactive, searchable transcripts and closed captioning.
In addition to conference proceedings and presentations, the SPIE Digital Library includes access to more that a dozen professional journals in biomedical optics, electronic imaging, remote sensing, optical engineering, and more.
Study Carrels Now Available On 1st and 2nd Floors
This October, the Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center relocated 10 study carrels to the first and second floors. The carrels originally included computer workstations, but have been deployed as clean study spaces. We hope to have them wired for power over the winter break.
Library staff are excited to provide additional spaces for students to enjoy quiet, distraction-free study--just in time for the crunch of final exams. [Photo shows Treys, Ethan, and Brooklyn buckling down for a late morning study session.]
If you have ideas or suggestions for improving library spaces, let us know at

ATU Clarinet Day - February 1, 2000
The ATU Music Department has maintained a high standard of clarinet pedagogy and performance as evidenced by an excellent selection of sound recordings for this instrument, which are available through the
Online Research Commons streaming audio special collection.
One such recording is ATU Clarinet Day on February 1, 2000. This event brought together clarinet professors from across Arkansas and featured former ATU clarinet professor Dr. Kelly Johnson and her teacher, the inimitable Dr. Robert Spring. These clarinet performances feature rare repertoire and heightened musical excellence due to such an historic gathering.
Open Educational Resources (OER)
OER are materials used for teaching and learning that are in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use and re-purposing by others (William and Flora Hewlett Foundation).
A 2014 survey reveals that 65% of students skipped purchasing required textbooks which makes it difficult to succeed academically (U.S. PIRG).
Research from Zhao, Satyanarayana, & Cooney (2020) has also found an increase in retention rates in the OER environment while another study shows an increase in grades and a decrease in withdrawals, D’s & F’s in students using OER (Colvard, Watson, & Park, 2018).
There are full textbooks available, at no cost, to all students and faculty. For more information on OER go to
https://libguides.atu.edu/oer or contact Sherry Tinerella,

Just in time for homecoming week...
Check out the first gem in our Wonder Boys & Golden Suns Collection in the Online Research Commons @ ATU: "

This collection will continue to grow and showcase the athletic traditions and accomplishments throughout the history of Arkansas Tech University.
What is Interlibrary Loan?
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is one of the
many services the library offers to help you in your teaching.
ILL allows you to get library items from other libraries. Even if the Tech library does not have the book or DVD you want, there is a way for you to get it. And it is very easy! There is a
short video (accessible from the
library website homepage) explaining how to search for the needed book or DVD in Find it... and easily complete the online ILL form.
