Arkansas State Government Resources: Education

The Arkansas Department of Career Education's mission is to prepare a job-ready, career bound workforce to meet the needs of Arkansas employers. They do this through four distinct divisions. These divisions provide a comprehensive system of education and workforce programs and services to accomplish those goals.

The mission of the Arkansas Department of Higher Education is to advocate for higher education; to promote a coordinated system of higher education in the state; and to assist each of the publicly and locally supported institutions of higher education in the state in improving the delivery of higher education services to the citizens of Arkansas.

Revision of each of the Arkansas Curriculum Frameworks every six years is required by the state education reform initiatives mandated by the State Board of Education. All curriculum framework documents result from the work of a committee of Arkansas educators representing every facet of Arkansas education, including geographic region, grade, school size and fiscal status, gender, ethnicity, and education experience.

The Office of Educator Licensure is responsible for the licensure of all Arkansas public school educators. The office provides technical assistance to educators, school districts, and educator preparation programs.
