Bob Allen

Having served as a chemistry professor at Arkansas Tech University for 32 years, Bob Allen has inspired many former students to practice a more sustainable way of living.  His research and civic activities have focused on resource conservation and global warming, including recycling, biological sources of hydrocarbons to replace fossil fuels, and solar power.  He and his wife live in a house that he designed and built, a net zero home powered by a combination of design features for passive solar and a 10.7 kW solar array for production of electricity.

Andy Barrett

Andy Barrett is the founder and owner of Perihelion Solar, a solar power company based in Russellville, AR.  Perihelion Solar was founded in 2017 and is the first solar power company based in Arkansas’ River Valley.  Prior to starting the company, Andy was a federal nuclear inspector for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for 15 years.  Andy has also worked as a nuclear reactor engineer, a nuclear reactor core designer, and a electric wheelchair repairman.  Andy has a Nuclear Engineering degree from Texas A&M University.  

Pat Ford

Pat Ford is the owner of Renee’s Berry Garden in London, AR.  He has been raising blueberries and blackberries on a four-acre farm with production methods that are built upon long-term, environmental sustainability.

Caroline Hackerott

Dr. Caroline Hackerott is a disasterologist who serves as an assistant professor and graduate program director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security at Arkansas Tech University.  She received her doctorate in Emergency Management from Oklahoma State University.  Her research interests include community-based adaptive capacity, complex emergencies and climate impacts, and long term recovery.  Caroline had the honor of teaching an interdisciplinary course regarding the impact of climate change in 2016.
