ATU Media Production Labs is a great place to start your journey in multimedia production for multimodal literacy and digital storytelling.  We have a very rich offering of software and hardware tools that you can use while you are at Arkansas Tech University.  Come check us out online or in person at the ATU Library!

iMovie is a good choice for Mac users who want to create digital stories. Comes installed on Macs. MAC ONLY

Windows Movie Maker is a video editing software application that has been included as part of the Windows operating system since 2000. FOR PCs.

Audacity is a cross-platform digital audio editing program that lets you record, edit and mix narration and music. It is recommended for those just starting out with audio editing and best of all, it's available for free.

Adobe CC is a powerful multimedia software suite that is interoperable (i.e. work well together) and noticeably better than the above "free" tools.  Of course you'll need a monthly or yearly subscription, but if you are an Arkansas Tech student, faculty or staff, you have access to the entire collection of software tools on campus.
