The Ross Pendergraft Library has established basic guidelines for what we will or will not purchase outlined in our Collection Development Policy. In general, the library will purchase films and videos for our circulating, instructional reserve, or permanent reserve collections that fit the following criteria:
- Videos requested by the faculty with the assurance that the videos will be used towards their curricular goals;
- Videos in streaming format will only be purchased by faculty request for courses delivered to online students or if no other access or format is readily available;
- Videos of motion pictures and television programs determined to be of high interest to students (in limited numbers).
We will not purchase streaming versions of films readily available in the public domain or for face-to-face classrooms where a physical DVD is readily available. Please contact your department's library liaison to request a video purchase or fill out the recommendation form.
